Hello Lovely People, my name is Page Roper! I'm the owner and lead designer of Flower Girls OBX that was founded in 2013.
Growing up in Birmingham, Alabama and coming from a long line of flower women, I learned the language of flowers at a young age, and have always been flower obsessed! My Mother (is) and Grandmother (was) an avid gardener/designers and their floral arrangements were always a big part of our family gatherings. My Grandmother grew the most beautiful roses, and their scent still takes me back to the time we spent together picking and preparing roses for her beautiful arrangements. I have inherited many of the very vessels she would use for arrangements, as well as her articulate notes of design formulas for each.
I enjoy continuing my floral exploration by attending flower classes. In 2014 became a Chapel Designer, an international collective of wedding and event floral designers. The organization educates, mentors, and encourages the individual designer to be his or her most authentic self.
I studied sustainable agriculture at University of California in Santa Cruz, in the late 90's. After, I returned to Birmingham to start a non profit urban farm, Jones Valley Teaching Farm. This is an educational production farm which is still continuing to connect people to where their food comes from. It was there, that I discovered the pure joy of giving back to the community, while providing them with sustainable food and flowers.
I moved to the Outer Banks in 2005, where I met my husband and started a family. Being a stay at home Mom, to my amazing girls, gave me the time to discover other career options, when I realized the wedding floral industry would be an ideal career for me! The Outer Banks is in the top 5 locations in the U.S for destination weddings. It's no wonder with our incredible beaches and amazing local venders, who make planning an event here a breeze!
